
If you are sick and want to know some tips on how to maintain your diabetes. Here are a couple of quick pointers that I learned from experience and some good articles from About.com
- Stay hydrated- drink lots of water
- continue to take you medication unless your blood sugar is much lower than usual
- check you blood sugar every 4-6 hours
- test and track your ketone levels and blood sugar levels
- if you cannot hold anything down or are sick for more than 24hrs, call you health care physician
When to call your doctor; You might want to call your doctor if
- illness that last longer than 1-2 days
- fever
- severe nausea
- dehydration
- excess urination or thirst
- labored breathing
- worsening of symptoms
